Ba Den Mountain Pagoda System
As the highest mountain in Southern Vietnam, Ba Den Mountain is one of the most sacred spiritual sites in the country. It is home to a diverse system of pagodas, hermitages, caves, and shrines—many of which remain unknown to the general public.

Linh Son Phuoc Trung (Trung Pagoda)

Located at the foot of the mountain, this pagoda is often the first stop for pilgrims on their journey to pay homage along the sacred elevation of Ba Den Mountain.
Trung Pagoda was originally built during the time of the founding Patriarchs, Venerables Chon Thoai and Trung Trung (1879–1910). After restoration, the pagoda now reflects a blend of traditional and modern architecture. Its solemn sanctum houses altars to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, as well as enshrines Guan Gong, Mazu, local goddesses, and various spiritual guardians.

Linh Son Tien Thach Tu (Ba Pagoda)

Linh Son Tien Thach Tu is the oldest pagoda in the Ba Den Mountain system. It was founded in the mid-18th century by Zen Master Dao Trung – Thien Hieu, a disciple of the Lieu Quan Zen School.

After several renovations from its original form—a simple structure with thatched roof and wooden walls—the pagoda now covers an area of 210 square meters. At the front hall, two green stone pillars dating back to the era of Patriarch Tam Hoa (1919) are still preserved. Each pillar is 4.5 meters high and 0.45 meters in diameter, carved with intricate winding dragon motifs.

In the courtyard stands a statue of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (Quan The Am). Notably, the main hall enshrines a Buddha relic (sacred sarira), a treasured gift from the King of Thailand to Most Venerable Thich Hien Phap, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, who offered it to the pagoda in the year 2000.

Long Chau Phuoc Trung

Since the time of the early Patriarchs who came to the mountain for spiritual practice, this temple has existed and was once regarded as the Trung Pagoda of Linh Son Tien Thach Tu. It was a resting point for pilgrims visiting Hang Pagoda and Ba Pagoda.
Today, the temple has been renovated with a more spacious appearance. The central sanctum enshrines Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva (white-faced statue) placed at the highest altar.

Linh Son Long Chau (Hang Pagoda)

In 1864, Master Hue Mang Kim Thien and a Cham monk chose a cave about 200 meters from Suoi Vang Valley for meditation and built Linh Son Long Chau Pagoda there.
Hang Pagoda is associated with the “Cracked Stone Man” legend.
In the past, a massive stone blocked the way, and pilgrims had to detour through a stream. Patriarch Tanh Thien chanted sutras and prayed continuously for 100 days until the stone split in two, creating a 1.5-meter-wide path to the pagoda. This miraculous passage still exists today, nestled between two large rock

Linh Son Hoa Dong

Restored from an old hermitage where Most Venerable Thich Giac Dien once practised in the mid-20th century, Linh Son Hoa Dong Pagoda sits in a quiet corner of Ba Den Mountain and covers about 200 m².
On the path to the pagoda, visitors can pay homage to the Reclining Shakyamuni Buddha entering Nirvāṇa.

Quan Am Pagoda

Located at Dong Ba Co cave, about 150 meters above Hang Pagoda, Quan Am Pagoda features a solemn main hall.
The altar enshrines Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva (black face, wearing a phoenix crown and ceremonial robe), seated in meditation on a lotus throne.
Behind the statue is a spirit tablet inscribed with:
“Namo Linh Son Holy Mother Bodhisattva”.
